Standing poses are probably the most important poses that we practice. In becoming familiar with them we learn about all the different parts of the body and bring awareness to them. They help us to develop strength, stamina and determination. Standing poses are beneficial for the back, hips, knees, neck and shoulders. These areas become stronger and flexibility is increased. In bringing awareness to these parts of the body we learn how to move correctly and posture is improved. The work done in standing poses teaches us the correct way to sit, stand and walk. This helps to reduce the aches and pains of daily life caused by bad posture.
